how can I get rid of a pop-up on my mac?

I have a pop-up that appears on my Safari home page that only gives me options to scan or say yes to a scan for "pc virus" cleanup. I can't get rid of it because no matter what I choose I lose! It has infected my photos by placing items that are junk that I also cannot delete. Any ideas?

Download and run Malwarebytes.

That should get rid of that adware.

Sounds like some kind of adware has gotten on to your Mac. You can use this, it is called Malwarebytes. It will assist you in getting rid of it. Highly recommended around here.
