So i have a macbook Pro 13. 2017...16gb, 1 TB. The HDD is partitioned into two Sections....One running Mojave, one running High Sierra.

The reason being I use software that won't run on Mojave.

Now - in order to save space , I wish in iTunes & iPhoto to only have one Photo library file and one music library file, rather then one for each system.

The benefits would be I'd save a great deal of space on an already full HDD ( approx 100 GB saving) - and as I added or deleted photographs or songs....it would keep Photos and iTunes sync'd over the two systems and partitions.

So say I kept the Photos Library on H. Sierra - and somehow told the Mojave Photos app to use the H. Sierra Photos Library - it would see it as an old version and try to update it. If it did this then H. Sierra Photos App would no longer be able to use it as it would see it as being ' created by a newer version of Photos '

Is there a way to do this?

Thanks

Wow, that's a tricky situation.

I can't think of an answer off-hand. If I had to run partitions like that, I think I'd end up picking one system to use exclusively with Photos – High Sierra or Mojave – and stick to it, and make a similar choice for iTunes.

Once you've opened iTunes, you won't be able to use the iTunes Library with an older version of iTunes. So unless you have the same version of iTunes in both High Sierra and Mojave, your idea won't work.

Photos may be the same.
