Hey!
The question is simple: How do I make a bootable Mac OS X USB stick? It used to be simple, you go to Disk Utility and click restore. You know, just two steps but now it's not so simple anymore. It's giving me errors.
I tried MDS and it failed. Pretty much my MacBook Pro mid 2010 is without OS now. I do have dmg of Snow Leopard and High Sierra. Neither of them work.
I get OSstatus -22 and OSstatus - 1 errors. How would I get snow leopard or high Sierra installer to boot on MacBook Pro mid 2010? I have MacBook Air M1

Try using one of these free utilities:
- DiskMaker X
or
- Install Disk Creator

MAKE SURE you use the right version of the utility for the version of the OS you'll be using.

I'm not sure how well this process will go using an m-series Mac (to create an older version of the OS on a bootable flashdrive).

Do you have a working Intel based Mac available to you?

If nothing else works for you, you could go on ebay, and buy a "pre-made" bootable USB flashdrive with the OS installer of your choice on it. They seem to run in the $20 range...

Hi!
Thank you for your reply. I ended up going to my coworkers place and created a bootable USB of Snow Leopard. Seems like you cannot do that on M1 Macs.
Thanks for the help.
