I have my Windows' iTunes library and database file on an exFAT partition(changed the Windows Music Library to the exFAT partition), so I thought I could simply select that as my library location on macOS, and it would work.

But the iTunes database(or XML file) won't be carried over. And apparently the file locations will be different for both(since the file path will vary b/w OSes as macOS mounts under /Volumes/)

How can I make it work between both OSes?

Without using iTunes Match though. I do have iCloud Library from Apple Music if that works.

Got a USB port on your router? I put a drive and an iTunes library on my Netgear R7000.
Fat32 IIRC, one of the Windows variants.
Both my Mac and my Windows 10 Lenovo can see it and play from it.
Different tunes at the same time even.
NAS is one answer.
