I order a Dual Core 2.0 G5 at work. I want to make sure I got what I asked for. What can I look for on the physical machine to make sure it is not a Dual Processor 2.0? I noticed it had the new power plug but I did not know when that started.

Thanks...

Take a look in your System Profiler – look under the Apple Menu/About This Mac and then click on the 'More Info...' button. It'll tell you all kinds of useful information that'll confirm whether or not you've got the right computer sat on your desk. :)

When you get the machine click on the apple and the about this mac tab...

Odd, this is like the 3rd post with similiar question asked in less than a week... does apple make that many mistakes that people are concerned about what they are actually getting?

The new power plug is only actually present on the current generation of PowerMac G5s. Further, if you look inside, the power supply is connected to the logic board by a series of busbars on the bottom of the machine, rather than by a cable.

the reason that I wondered is two things:

1. I got a newer machine than some others at my company so I wanted to make sure they didn't just give me an old machine.

2. The "About This Mac" tab is pretty unclear. It doesn't say Dual Core. It just says Dual 2.0 GHz Power PC.

It does have the new plug so that should ease my worries...
