Hi,

I have a Mac and an iPhone. I use Apple Music. I'v been trying to look for ways so that I don't have to download the same track on both the devices. If I have a track downloaded on one device, I should be able to just transfer it to the other instead of re-downloading it. I tried syncing my iPhone with iTunes, didn't work. Tried transferring the purchases, but I don't think apple Music downloaded tracks will count towards purchases.

I like to keep all my music on my mac and only the music that I listen to on my iPhone. I add new tracks to my library on both the devices but I don't like to re-download the tracks on my mac instead of just being able to transfer them from my iPhone.

Is there a way so that I don't have to re download the same music on separate devices?

Short answer is no, you can't sync instead of download.

You don't have to download to your Mac to listen to the music, either. Rather than downloading all the music in your Apple Music library you can have iTunes stream the music. Or you can enable automatic downloads from Apple Music on your Mac so that you don't have to manually tell your Mac to download the songs.

So, stream or download. Those are the choices.

Thanks for the reply!

It sucks that I only have an option to either download on both my devices or stream. People ( like me) who live in remote places don't have access to high speed internet and don't have internet available at all times, this is bad for them!

It is worse for people who have three devices and like to listen to music on all three.
