Hello, I've been searching everywhere and it seems I cant find a solution to my problem. Here's the thing:

I'm from Mexico, I've had my iPhone 4 for over 2 years and never needed to unlock it, I'm using iOS 5.1.1 with jailbreak and my baseband is 4.12.01 (I really never knew anything about basebands). Right now I'm living in Spain, and I'm gonna be here for about half a year, so I started looking for a way to unlock my phone, it seems I cant unlock it with this Baseband and the carrier I bought my phone from doesn't do the IMEI unlocks... why? I don't know, they have no idea what I'm talking about when I explain them, I've talked to supervisors and still don't have any solution.
I read something about a tweak for changing the IMEI, but I don't know if changing it to some other unlocked IMEI would work. Any advice on this matter? I'm really desperate :(

Thanks!

The only unlock for your phone is an IMEI unlock from carrier who sold the phone or grey market vendor.

Read the thread here on IMEI unlocks.

Thanks, I'll read it, I've looked up some websites who offer this service, but they don't offer the service for Mexico, or atleast the one's I've checked :(

I would check on eBay to see if there are any.

Thanks but still havent found anything, does anyone know if the IMEI change is possible and if it would work? Or deleting the software and installing a custom firmware or something? I really dont have much knowledge about unlocking iPhones.

Edit: Never mind, I'm sorry. I thought baseband and Modem firmware were two different things so I suggested this.

Why suggest something then provide the requirements which preclude his phone?

A simple google has found many people who claim to IMEI unlock Mexican iPhone 4S'

thanks, but I've checked in the "mexican eBay" Mercadolibre and the guys who offer this service won't unlock iPhones with Mexican Carriers cause they say it is not possible, so an IMEI unlock from my carrier won't happen.
