How can I use my wifi iPad everywhere?

Mifi devices work fine but their battery life is way more limited (3-4 hours at best).
If you have an iphone with IOS4 checkout MyWi 4.0 app. Assuming you also have a pretty big data plan or unlimited data on your iphone. On the go wherever you have signal you can use the data on your iphone for your ipad and other wireless devices.

Have you considered trading it for a 3G iPad. Someone on this forum reported that they managed to exchange a wifi model with a 3G model at Apple store, without restocking fee, and outside the 14-day window. It would be the best solution, terms of not having to worry about carrying/charging 2 devices.
+1. That is def. the smart way to go. Trading for the 3G will save you money in regards to a mifi router and you won't have extra bulk to carry. I bought the wifi one as I'm always surrounded by wifi and have a BB smartphone if I ever need something on the go, say the car.
I agree with silverblack. Just trade it up for a 3G and then you don't have to sweat it. The mifi alternatives are costly and add yet another device to carry with worry about loosing, charging, or replacing.
Everyone is quick to dismiss MiFi type devices because of "cost" but you have to take into consideration maybe the OP also needs a laptop and other devices to have internet access while out and about.
If the iPad is all your using, sure, a MiFi might not be the best but if you have multiple devices I think this is by far the best method.
I was paying $60 a month for an ATT USB card that I could ONLY use on my Macbook. With a Mifi Im able to connect up to 5 devices for the same price.
Bottom line, It's different for everyone.. You need to look at the big picture. Not just the iPad.
I have a 3G and the ability to tether to my Palm Pre. Tethering kills the battery on the phone in less than 2 hours and doesn't let you use it for voice at the same time so I have opted to keep renewing my unlimited data plan.
AT&T network is soooo slow in my area with data, so I will never reach 2GB limit. So, 3G ipad was not even an option for me.
I have a Verizon Mifi ($0, $50 cash rebate plus $50 gift card.) Beside giving me wifi on my iPad anywhere, I have reduced my iPhone 4 data plan to $15/ and use the Mifi for iPhone data when I am driving on my long commute each day (of course, email and browsing at stop lights only.) I don't use it to the extent that I have to worry about the battery running down, although for a long trip, I have a small power inverter I could use if need be. A great purchase...

Price is very reasonable for pay-as-you-go, no contract, multiple devices can share, very good coverage... That last is because it's using the Sprint network; we even took it to Maui and it was flawless.
