how check new ram installed

Hi,

Just opened up my MB Pro and installed 2x2gb of Crucial Ram, but could someone let me know where I check if it's installed okay? I imagine it is. otherwise the machine wouldn't start up.

The first indicator that you get if the RAM is okay is a boot chime.

The second item that your can check is 'About this Mac' located in the Apple menu (apple icon upper left of screen). When you click on the 'About this Mac' you will get a window which will tell you how much memory you have installed, further system information can be gained by clicking on 'More Info'.

I personally would also recommend that you use the first system restore disc and restart the mac, holding down the 'D' key. This will let you go to the system diagnostic menu and run a hardware test to determine if any of the ram is bad.

I once had an issue with my Powerbook where the ram seemed fine while in OS X, but copying large files and installing programs would error or crash. It turned out when I ran hardware test, that the ram was bad and was corrupting the data. T_T;
