You know when you see a PC, there are a lot of ugly, distracting sticks on them. How come Macs don't have the stickers?

Because Apple has the final word and will never allow such stickers, as they are distracting and destroying the overall beauty of their products.
They send two Apple stickers with their products though.

Btw, during the switch to Intel, many thought we would get "Intel Inside" stickers, but we didn't get those, not even a small imprint on the back/bottom. The G3 and G4 was more branding than we currently have.

Ooh is that two energy star stickers?! Does that mean I'm saving the planet twice, or the computer actually gives energy back to the power grid?!

The stickers make Windows computers seem cheap in my opinion... Thats the last thing I want for my $1000+ piece of equipment. Apple realizes that, and since they have final say (as someone else mentioned), they won't put stickers on the computer.

Apple lists these features on the side of the box. PCs only list the text so they put the stickers on the computer. But it is synonymous with everyone that the stickers are there to make you feel like you are getting a beast of a computer...

It's the sticker companies, I tell ya.

They started innocently enough with travel badges for steamer trunks. Yet even then it was a sleazy business. Anyone could pretend they'd been to to Egypt just by illegally obtaining such a sticker down by the docks.

When the automobile came along, sticker companies lobbied for mandatory bumpers upon which to stick their wares. Yes, it's true!

Nowadays they've taken over the minds of our children, giving away free stickers just to get them hooked on spending their allowance on Princess and Bakugan versions.

So it's no surprise, none at all, that stickers show up on everyday purchases. The only possible reason why Apple doesn't have any, is because Jobs pays them off under the table. And people think Apple's money is stuck in overseas accounts. Yeah, sure.

More like a logo-plastered NASCAR racer of a computer. "And now a few words from our sponsors..." :D

As hipster-beacon-ish as the illuminated apple on the back of my MBP may be, I still think it's classier than a bunch of random crap adhered to the thing. Thank you, Apple. ;)

You just answered your own question. Apple doesn't need to put stickers on their box to sell the stuff inside because their design and brand is consistent across all outlets.

Also, they DO come with stickers (or at least they used to) but INSIDE the box for you to put on other stuff :)

What drives me CRAZY is when people buy a laptop and leave the description/display stickers on them! You know, showing size of hard drive, RAM, etc.

I thought there was a discussion back when Apple was switching to Intel about having stickers.

Intel and others pay the computer company to have the sticker placed on the machine as part of the marketing.

Obviously, Apple took a pass...

Yeah I see it as one of the reasons OCs are cheaper (not the main reason) but it's like advertisements for your computer and you see them everyday and they remind you who built the machine

First thing I've done with every Thinkpad is strip the Windows, ATI, and Intel stickers off. (Stripped the preloaded Windows installs off in favour of Linux, too...) Looks much cleaner from the get-go, and several years down the line, I'm not left with raggedy stickers and goo smeared on my palmrests. Sure, I wish they hadn't been there to begin with, but not much of an issue.

That's not the worst of it, my parents bought a small TV and it's not _stickers_, the damn logos are actually EMBOSSED and can't be removed...

I never really questioned this with Windows computers having tons of the stickers. I guess I thought they were supposed to have them to verify components. Now that seems silly. Glad Apple products don't.
