In a perfect world I suppose PRSI wouldn’t exist at all, but that’s a different story.

If somebody posts in PRSI then their global profile post number doesn’t increase. This leads to some thoroughly confusing numbers which doesn’t really reflect how some people live in that forum.

Any chance this can be updated?

Hi Olly, thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

Is it in the pipeline for changing? There are some really jarring numbers out there and even for the purposes of “most relentless poster” threads that your colleagues compile, it may be worth considering.
I don't think so. It's an established site policy decision made long before I became a moderator and I agree with it.

Many of the posters in there have little interest in Apple and associated technology and only come here for PRSI, so personally I don't think they should be 'rewarded' with a high post count when they don't contribute to the MacRumors community.

Agreed about contribution. Can we "reward" them with likes not counting on PRSI posts then? :p

Management on this site goes out of their way to make users who post in PRSI as insignificant as possible on the site as a whole, simply because they post in a forum most staff members agree they shouldn't have in the first place. Many users do have thoughtful things to say in there who never break the rules, how fair is this rule to them?

You guys come up with a ton of micro rules that, depending on the day and the mod, are highly subjective and extremely stringent which you then have to police. You have a new ban rule that's only applicable to that forum and the moderators spend a great deal of time fielding complaints (reported posts) by picking through the posts with a fine tooth comb.

Just one question, why go through all that?

Many of us would prefer the forum to be closed because it causes us lots of problems but the powers above want it left open to keep PRSI out of the other forums.

The reasons for the extra rules for PRSI are explained here.
And the end result is that if you have a political or religious opinion, it's not what this site considers valid enough to count. However, if you want to bash Apple or Android all day long, it's all good.

There's a difference between:

- Having a political opinion when an article about politics with Apple products arises
- Coming to a website about Apple products and spending your entire time arguing about politics in a sub-forum

Yet this forum exists on this site. People should be treated equally all around or they simply should remove the forum. Penalizing them for posting in a forum that THEY implemented seems pretty unfair.

I don't buy the argument that "politics will bleed into all the other forums," especially in a way that the moderators could not handle with relative ease. Especially when, as @OllyW says, "Many of the posters in there have little interest in Apple and associated technology and only come here for PRSI, so personally I don't think they should be 'rewarded' with a high post count when they don't contribute to the MacRumors community."

If the politics section were removed, they wouldn't have much to stay here for.

As far as I am aware, posts made in the PRSI forum are not counted towards one's total number of posts.

At the end of the day, who really cares about post counts, and more importantly, why?

Because self-professed "criminal mexi midgets" don't average 51 likes per post. Somebody might see their stats and erroneously think they have an opinion worth listening to.

What if someone saw a user had a bazillion posts, but all in the PRSI and then that user posted in an iPhone Forum
A user might erroneously think that user had an opinion worth listening to

I could be wrong, but I think most users here don't pay any attention to such things

A user might have a bazillion Apple-related posts, all worthless.

COUNT MY DAMN POSTS IN THE PRSI FORUM
Cause I want people to know I post a lot more than they do
And I want to be recognized as a top poster in the twice-a-year statistics that are posted
Don't you know who I am?

Whatever helps you sleep at night and gives you a better quality of life

I have a job I enjoy
A wife who loves me
Money to pay my bills and save a little
I am in relatively good health
And I sleep at night
I have everything I need

So if anyone wants my post count to add to your account, I'm happy to give them up
I don't need them

Yeah, but you have a newly purchased iPad mini 4 that you can't return. (;

Come on man, you don’t have to be that guy. I’m posting this on Site Feedback on MacRumors, which is for site feedback rather than musings about one’s job, wife, or aversion to any punctuation.

I’m just expressing my thoughts because the consistency was bugging me. Is that okay?
