I fear that my 24" desk might be too narrow in depth.

Does perhaps anyone own a 22" desk w/ an imac that has no problems with the monitor being too close to their face?

Oh, this is a 24" iMac that I'm getting.

some will say it's too close. Really, it's completely subjective. Try it out with your current desk, and if the desk feels too small, modify your current desk or get a bigger one. Like I said, it's all just personal preference. I have a desk that is 38" deep, and i sometimes feel that my 22" monitor is too close. My brother has a desk that is a lot shallower than mine (i don't know how many inches), and he has his 24" imac set up there with no problem

As said above, it's very subjective as to what is acceptable. I have a 24" iMac and my desk is 30" deep. With the back of the foot (of the iMac) at the rear edge of the desk, the front of the screen is probably 22" or so from the front edge of the desk, and that is perfectly comfortable for me.

Purely on a DPI point of view, I'm sure a 24" desk should be fine based on the photo of my desk. The slide in keyboard shelf is 16 - 20" away from the front of my display. that would be no more than 24" at most allowing for the monitor stand.

A 19" LCD at 1280 x 1024 has a DPI of 85.75.

A 24" LCD at 1920 x 1200 has a DPI of 91.92.

I can't see that less than 7 more DPI would make this any less comfortable.
