Hope I'm posting this on the correct thread.

I got the opportunity to make spur of the moment straight off trade. I took it, but don't know if I might have got ripped off or come out on top.

Up till about 10 minutes ago, I had a 2009 iMac with the following specs:
3.06Ghz Core 2 Duo
4GB DDR3 RAM
1TB 5400 RPM HD
Radeon 5600 256 MB video
21.5" inch display that was developing those light black splotches on the inside of the LCD glass.

Here's what I traded for:
2011 Mac Mini with the following specs:
2.3Ghz i5
300GB 7200 RPM HD
4GB DDR3
A crappy, Intel HD3000 display (don't care about that, I have a windows machine with dual 460 GTX's for gaming anyway).

Each were in pristine condition, besides the light black splotches on the iMac. Also, I had a spare 24" LCD at home. So the display is actually better than could ever get out a 21" iMac.

Opinions?

well if you don't want to run snow leopard you did fine. that mini is about 500 or so. may I ask what is the 300 gb 7200 rpm hdd. may I also ask is there any warranty left on the 2011 mini?

A Hard Drive with 300GB capacity, and the platters spin at 7200 Revolutions Per Minute. VS. the 1TB on the iMac that was a bit slower.

Don't really matter, in about 30 minutes, it's gonna have 128GB Patriot Inferno SSD that reads and writes fast as heck. I'm gonna pull the 300GB hdd (hard disk drive, vs ssd or solid state drive) in a USB enclosure and use it for storing files and keep all the applications and OS X on the SSD.

Already pulled 4GB RAM out of a notebook (my sony Vaio just happen to use 1067 DDR3 modules just like the Mac Mini. So it has 8GB now.

well the mini is worth about 525.00 brand new. so depending on what you think your imac was worth that can tell you how you did.

I think the core i5 in the mini will be faster then the imac. so as far as raw speed goes it is an upgrade for you.
