Lately my Rev. A MBA has been going nuts every hour or so, with the dreaded kernel_task 150% of CPU problem.

Has anyone successfully solved this? Any recommendations on dealing with Applecare on this? I'm fully covered until May of 2011, but would rather not be without my MBA for the multiple weeks it sometimes seems to get this issue solved.

I've been grabbing screencaps every time it happens, so there is a record of it in case I can't get it to happen at the Genius Bar. I'm even running ClickToFlash, and with no flash in use it's been acting up.

I also have the loose hinge issue, if I present them all at the same time, would my chances of getting a replacement be better? About how long would a new hinge and logic board take to replace?

Lucky you. Mine does it in a 74 degree room, while sitting on a glass top table.

coolbook, which undervolts your processor, keeps my macbook air cooler and prevents kernel_task from eating up all my CPU. unfortunately, it currently isn't working with 10.6.2 :( . soon, though, according to this.

it's $10 shareware but well worth it. it really works.

Well, now I'm getting the dreaded hard drive clicks. Making an appointment, and pressing for a replacement. Rev. B.

Let me know how that goes. I hear my Hdd click too, but wouldn't know how to replicate that problem at the store...

Kernel_Task

This is a hardware failure - visit a Genius Bar. I think there's a failed ribbon cable somewhere - shouldnt cost too much to fix.
