I read my iPad at night while in bed. I set it up so the screen is black and the text is white. I usually have the brightness turned as low as possible. Even then, I would like the display to be dimmer.

Does anyone know how bright the new 12.9" on it's lowest setting?mI'm hoping it's not much brighter than my current 11".

You'll have to wait until May when the actual product is released.

the XDR display should be very customizable. The 1000nit full screen and 1600nit peak brightness only really apply to HDR content.

It is just extending the dynamic range, not meaning the average picture level is going to be overall brighter all the time.

You'll likely be able to keep it at the dimmest setting. Also, you mentioned wanting it darker than even the dimmest setting, you can always go into the "settings -> accessibility -> display & text size -> reduce white point"

I use this all the time on my iphone and have accessibility set up to triple click of the power button to quickly turn off and on. You can play with how much darker you want it to be to your personal preference.

I'll try it tonight!
