I realize they're quite different in shape given one has tips and the other does not.

And I'm hearing all this talk about AirPods Pro falling out and issues with the tips.

The stock Apple wired earbuds that came with older iPhones, fit me perfectly well.
What's the likelihood of the Pro's fitting as well?

Never used the EarPods much, but had 1st and 2nd gen AirPods....and they hurt my ears. The AirPods Pro are night and day difference for me. Much more comfortable.

The wired ones always fit well for me so transitioning to the AirPods first gen was easy, but the AirPods Pro’s while fit they would fall out more easily...until I realized the medium tips weren’t as perfect fit as I thought. Switched them to the small and now I have zero issues. Perfect fit, never falls out, and so comfortable I often forget I have them in the ear.

so personally, if you enjoyed the wired ones you’ll find the pros even better. Just make sure you try all tip sizes and take advantage of the settings to get your perfect set up.

Thanks, That’s good to hear.

I know I can purchase and try it on and return if I don’t like it. But, I’d rather not do that.

I realize everyone’s ear is different and the issues could be just from the vocal minority.

In my case, the Airpods Pro fits really well in my ears [medium size tips, i tried small and larger tips but medium fits the most)
Regular Airpods or wired earpods are more comfortable but fits more ''loose''
I cant use regular Airpods/earpods for running/sports for example, it eventually gonna drop
Airpods Pro is something between being comfortable and fitting firmly in ears
I have tried some others in-ears true wireless earbuds, Airpods Pro are the best compromise among all

What's the likelihood of the Pro's fitting as well?
High likelihood. You have three chances to get them to fit with the Pro’s silicone tips, whereas the earlier AirPods had only one option.

Apple did their research & designed them to fit in most ears. That doesn’t guarantee they’ll fit in yours, but most people who were happy with the AirPods were also happy with the AirPods Pro’s.

Don’t be put off by complaints on forums, as they’re mostly by those who aren’t happy with any device. Most people who’ve gone from the AirPods to the Pro’s have either found an improved fit or an equally satisfactory fit.

Try them out for two weeks & the odds are on you being happy with them.

The Pros cause my ears to itch seriously badly... I can’t stand it for more than a few minutes. I’m looking at getting different tips for them to see if that’s the issue.

i do fine with the non-Pros, but even after reset I’m lucky to get 45 minutes out of them.

There's a good likelihood.

Like you Apple's wired EarPods (the ones they used to ship with iPhones) worked fine for me as well as about six after-market earbuds over the course of 10+ years.

In fact, I have never used the AirPods Pro tip fit utility. They worked great with the default medium-sized tips. I tried the other tip sizes briefly to see if performance improved but I quickly returned to the medium tips.

It is worth pointing out that while expected the AirPods Pro to fit, I was extremely skeptical that the active noise cancellation would be worth the $250 price tag since I own a set of the excellent Bose QuietComfort QC25 noise cancelling headphones. I WAS SO WRONG.

The AirPods Pro are a game changer for me. I can wear them for hours sitting out by the pool on a summer day without my ears instantly sweating from the earcups on a normal set of headphones.

As long as Apple continues to offer AirPods with a similar shaped tip, I'm guessing that they will work fine for me since my ear canal shape will never change.

The recently added Spatial Audio feature makes the AirPods Pro even better than when I bought them a year ago. How many other headphones/earphones have you had that got better over time?

More than anything else, I suggest you take the earlier provided advice to ignore what you have read in Q&A forums here and elsewhere. Just try them out yourself.

Buy them from Apple so you can return them if they don't fit well. I made the mistake of buying from Argos!!

Gotta say the wired EarPods never worked for me, the weight of the cable would always pull the left EarPod out, but with the original AirPods I never had this issue and upgrading to the Pro's it's been a world of difference both fit and sound quality wise.

Personally, for what I use AirPods for (around the house podcasts, YouTube, phone calls, etc), the non-Pros are vastly preferable to me.

I just don't love the "congested" feeling of my own voice and "in my head" feel on anything isolating (like the Pros) and although transparency mode is a nice accommodation by Apple, it pales in comparison to simply actually being able to take in sound from around you naturally by way of the more open design of the Airpods 1/2.

Granted, one sacrifices isolation and thus some sound quality for that distinction, so it very much matters where/how you are going to use your Airpods (or any other headphones).

I don't travel much (particularly these days), but when I do, better audio quality, better noise cancelling and way better battery life, from over ear headphones is my definite preference.

That's unfortunate. I steered clear of them when they first came out, because most in-ear buds have irritated my ears after even just brief use. I can't even tolerate my regular AirPods for longer than 20-30 min before my ears start itching. My biggest issue is that the regular AirPods also don't fit my ears well, and too much movement causes them to fall out. Here's hoping next year's versions come with more fit options...
