How do apps store files you create? Can they be transfered elsewhere?

Most apps don't actually create documents, but some do generate text or (non-photo) images, such as the various "paint programs." I'd want to be able to use those creations in other apps once I got home.

Can you get those files off the phone to your Mac/PC? Or is that only possible if the app uses the built-in email and photo-synching features?

Just wondering.

(In addition, I'd love to see full browsing of a file system on the iPhone--a file system exposed as a drive when plugged into a computer. Even though not EVERY doc type would be usable ON the phone, the ability to browse and organize stored files would be nice. I know that's not possible yet though.)

Apps store it in their directory in which you can't access without being able to SSH into the device.

That's the default...they can store it server-side too.

The reason ALL of the drawing/paint programs export to the Photos library is because that is the only way to get image files off the device. The only other way to move files is for the application to import/export over the network, either to a server or a desktop utility (Like FileMagnet does, I think) that knows how to communicate directly with the app.
