how do games work in CodeWeavers/DarWINE?

hey all-
As I've mentioned I don't have windows (although I do have two copies of OEM Windows currently not being used on any PeeCees), and I want to play some old Windows games on my MBP (I got friggin 256MB RAM, and I gotta use it!). I had most of the EA sports games ('04 versions and Tiger Woods '06), Backyard Hockey and Baseball, and maybe some other stuff. Anyone know how well this'll go? Also, what's the difference between codeweavers and Darwine? I mean, is there any?

yeah, probably, but today is a snow day (first one in 10 years of school, w00t!) and I'm perfectly OK with configuring geeky api converters

OMG!
It's actually installling in CodeWeavers!!!
will there be any way for me to get this installation out of code weavers and into Darwine or at least download an installer that will work in Darwine?

FWIW this is the key distinction between Wine and Crossover. Crossover allows for installers to run and also allows you to create different "bottles" for the apps you want to run.

Wine and Darwine are really only useful for very simple apps.

Let us know how/if it runs.

everything was perfect!!!!!

until the installer asked me to put in the 2nd disk. it didn't respond to that.
anyway, i slipstreamed SP2 onto my Gateway XP SP1a CD with some automated program. AutoStream is what I think it was called. Anyway, I'll be configuring bootcamp and installing XP tonight.

Unfortunately games are hit or miss inside of Wine. Some games will install and run; some games will install ok but not run correctly; some won't even install; etc. Also if a game requires a version of DirectX more recent than 8 - or even some unsupported DirectX 8 functionality - it won't work.

However when it does work it's pretty cool.
