Hi. I purchased FilmicPro for my iPhone 6S Plus about a month ago. Shortly thereafter, the microhone on my iPhone died and so I had to replace it.

FilmicPro is saying that I can install the same app that I purchased on my new iPhone 11 Pro Max, but I'm not seeing how to do that...

On my iPhone 11, I went to Safari and logged in with my AppleID, but I cannot figure out where to go from there...

on an iPhone, you have to use the App Store ...

Not sure if I understand the issue. You should have bought the app via the App Store (don‘t see how it could be done any other way). Therefore, on your new iPhone 11, you should simply visit the App Store and reload the app?

Right, I did buy the app at the App Store. (I forget, but I guess I would have had to have done that my iPhone?)

Yeah, but I don't know how to get back to the App Store... (Um, I use my phone as a camera and have no clue how to use smartphones!!)

So can someone please help me understand how to navigate to the App Store on my new iPhone 11 Pro Max and re-download and install FilmicPro onto my new phone?

Thanks!

Right, but how do I navigate to the App Store on an iPhone?
You have an icon like this on one of your screens on the phone, launch it (tap it) and search for your app

Oh, I had that hidden off-screen in a junk app folder.

Okay, so I tapped on that, logged in, and tapped on "Purchased" and it says "No Purchases"?!

Now what?

iPhone 6s was probably logged into a different Apple ID

I set up a ProtonMail account about a year ago to be used *solely* for e-commerce purchases - so that I don't jeoparodize my main email address.

Again, I use my iPhone as a camera and am clueless about actually using it as a phone or for the apps.

I think I purchased FilmicPro using Safari on myiPhone 6S Plus?

I think it just asked for an e-mail address and my credit card details, and it wasn't like I signed into the Apple App Store and bought it there, because if I did, then it should be coming up when I log in with my AppleID, right?

But I am 99% certain that I did NOT create a new AppleID - although I asked about what would happen if i did that in a thread here a few months back. (I decided to just keep my old AppleID/email and not complicate things.)

So I am totally confused what has happened and what info FilmicPro and Apple have on me and if I now have a new account or what?!

iOS apps can only be installed via App Store with Apple ID signin, or very complicated Enterprise App setups typically only encountered with the help of your work's IT dept.

Simplest would be search your email for "your receipt from Apple," unless you believe you deleted that message, and see what email it sent to. Otherwise look in Settings of the 6s if you still have it. Otherwise just check the personal Apple ID just in case.

I don't recall the sequence of eventa that occurred when I bought FilmicPro. And I can't find an e-mail recipt in eithe the email associated with my AppleID or my other email account that I use strictly for e-commerce purchases...

I never stay logged in with my AppleID on my iPhone for privacy concerns.

If I go to my iPhone 6S Plus and tap on the App Store icon, and then the person icon in the upper right-hand corner, I am not logged into my Apple account but I do see FilmicPro....

Puzzling... Either *edit: it's on the personal Apple ID if you haven't tried that on the 11 yet*, or a lost third Apple ID, or Filmic totally scrapped and re-released their app as "new," removing your version from the store (unlikely). Here's the citation for my answer on no apps via Safari, if that helps assure you that you did get it from the App Store previously. iOS Apps can only be distributed to App Store, Enterprise Program Accounts, or limited Ad-Hoc test-runs.

I have A LOT of moving pieces going on in my life right now...

Just figured out what happened...

I *did* create a new AppleID for my business, and that is how I bought FilmicPro.

The problem is that I apparently forgot my password for my new AppleID - thought it was thes ame as my first, but guess not.

That sucks, because my AppleID password is written down in a book 1,000 miles away from me back home...

Guess I won't be using FilmicPro on this videoshoot?! :-(

That, or attempt password reset on the Apple ID..

What would that require?

Funny, as I was still packing up 5,000 lbs of gear for my road-trip, I thought to myself, "I wonder if I should bring my little black book with account names and passwords in it?? Nah... Why would I ever need that on this trip?!"

You can go to AppleID support, and recover your password there. (edit - that's the link in the above post!) All you should need is your own birthdate, and be able to provide the answers that you used with the security questions from when you set up that AppleID. Apple will then send you a link so you can reset your password. If you used 2-factor authentication, then you will also get an authentication code through an authorized device (such as your iPhone)

iforgot.apple.com

What it entails depends on what authentication methods you had set up. Apple reconfigures this a lot ever since 2012 so, you have to try to see.

This is the one flaw of me writing things down and not trying to memorize everything...

(On my To-Do list is update my 2nd "little black book" with things like this latest AppleID because I have access to that 2nd book, but it just isn't updated?!)

So can you give me a clue of what I would need to successfully reset things away from home?

I did write down all of the reset codes, but they are back home. And if there were challenge questions, I chose nonsensical things I'd need to read in my book as well. Furthermore, when I went to the AT&T stor elast night to mgrate my SIM card, the store went out of business?!

So unless I can do a simple reset using my email, then I'd say I am ****ed.

And I guess I can't even buy FlmicPro again without being able to get into this AppleID, unless I want to comingle things and use my eprsonal AppleID which I am trying to phase out...

Thanks, but I made those things pretty much useless to me right now as per my last post...

I don't think Apple ID has ever used reset codes, but like I said they toy with their two-factor setup all the time because the only system worked was easy-chat-support-reset. Thank Wired for taking that away from everyone forever just for a BS "epic" "scoop." The last time I couldn't get past two-factor (even though I had my password), I just waited a week and the two-factor system changed. Technology is great.

You have to try the site to see what it requires from you.

I went from about 150 passwords twenty years ago to over a thousand today. There's no way to memorize them all and your memory won't improve as you get older.

I used to store them on a local file on my Mac but about ten years ago I switched to password locker app.

There are corporate store and franchise stores. Often these stores move when their leases are up. It's possible that an independently-owned franchise store couldn't survive.

Most of the business failures due to COVID-19 at independent businesses, not the big chains like Starbucks.

Anyhow enjoy using Apple's built-in Camera app while you wait to retrieve your Apple ID login credentials.

I could try that link you provided, but am fearful I'll just make things worse. (I accept that I painted myself into this corner, but being a new and rarely used new account, I don't have the backup protections at hand like I would for an "important" account. When I create accounts, I sorta do a manual password-manager approach on the password and challenge questions so it can never be hacked, but without my little-balc-book" I am SOL.)

*adjusts tin foil hat*

I guess another option is to use my personal AppleID, and I guess I did already type that into my new iPhone not remembering that I had created a startip AppleID, so I guess Tim Cook already knows that they are related...

*sigh*

P.S. Or maybe someone willc omment on my trhead under Photography and tell me that I don't really need FilmicPro for this videoshot and that I will be fine with teh Camera.app?
