I have had a PowerMac G3 for a couple of years and decided to get another computer an IMac G5. It came with an airport card so I got wireless internet. The old mac and the new mac are both hooked up to my Buffalo router and I get internet just fine, but how do I access my old computer from my new computer?

Thanks for the help on filesharing, got that turned on and went over to the new imac found network, and my old computer is showing there, wants me to mount volumes but other than the word "volume" there is not anything listed to mount??? Would like to know how to do this but probably won't use it at this time much because old computer applications are compatiable with OS 9.2 and new computer is OSX so I imagine most won't be able to open on OS10.4?
What I really need to be able to do is access from the imac my printer which hooked up to my old computer. Have tried different things in my desktop utility folder and thought it would work but has not. P.S. does filesharing have to be turned on to do this also? Any suggestions as to how to get this to work??
Also, sorry so many questions but - 1) I am having trouble accessing my help folders on the new system they are installed but when I go up under help I get a mac help window and try to go to the index but it doesn't go. Don't understand this system 10.4. Have mac 10.4 for dummies coming but in the meantime I'm trying...
Other problem is setting up safari to check my email which is the same as the one on my older computer - just would like to be able to read it some from the new imac which is located in a different room.
Guess you didn't know you were opening a can of worms by answering one smally question. If this is too much I understand. I do greatly appreciate your help thus far.

Nothing is showing up because you didn't tell the Mac what to share on the OS9 box. Your have to select your hard drive and go to the File pull-down menu and select Get Info -> Sharing. Then check the box to share this item and it's contents.. etc, etc, ..
Can't help you with Printer Sharing, look on Apple's Support Website, they have directions there.
If you're having troubles with the Help menu (it doesn't work very well), you should try some troubleshooting from here: The X-Lab
And finally, you need to be more specific what you're talking about with email and Safari. Safari doesn't have an email client like say, Netscape.

Ok trying to follow here. I'm on my OS9 #1 computer. Opened filesharing turned it on and also checked box enable file sharing clients to connect over TCP/IP (don't know if I should check this or not) Also turned on program linking and checked the TCP/IP box here too.
Then "Activity Monitor window" my name is in the users window, shared items is empty.
Under "Users & Groups" both user names for each computer are shown here.
So don't know what you mean about telling Mac what to share on the OS9 box, or selecting hard drive I'm assuming we are doing this onlly on the main computer that I am connecting to?
In regards to the email on the new OS10 I just want to be able to set it up. Like we used to under internet setup assistant. I currently just want to use the OS10 email program, no it's not Safari - Sorry. Not sure what it's called just says email on desktop

Other question will it be ok to try and open files without the same version of applications on both computers. Another question even though these hard drives are now accessible on the new computer they are not taking up any room as far as hard drive space, RIGHT?

It's called Mail.app. You'll have to copy the settings from your old set up to your new one. Or talk to your ISP about setting up your account for Mail.app.
