How do I ACTIVATE my BRAND NEW iPhone?

I am NOT asking to jailbreak or unlock, I know how to do those things. I recently got a swap at the Apple Store from my old iPhone (jb/ul) (but they didn't know that) to a brand new, never used iPhone. I can not do anything with this until I activate it though iTunes. It requires me to have a valid ATT sim card which I do not have because I have TMobile.

I do not have a Mac and after 2 and a half days of searching for the solution, I have given up.

I just need to know how to ACTIVATE it, NOT JAILBREAK OR UNLOCK. Thank you.

You're going to have to use Blackra1n and Blacksn0w to hacktivate it. Do you have a 3gs or 3g?

I have a 3G and I'm pretty sure it's 3.1.x

I have blackra1n RC3 but when I clicked make it rain it showed the white cord connecting to the iTunes screen and it stayed at "Running" for over 10 minutes. I've used blackra1n before and it took only 30 seconds then.

Weird. I would try it again, or re-download the blackra1n file from his website. Sounds like something goofed up (technical term )

Are you telling me this will activate the phone as well as JBing it?

I'm not seeing the image of Geohotz like I did with the other iDevices I jbed with blackra1n. Important question: Am I allowed to restore to Apple's official 3.1.2 fw with no problem if I use blackra1n?

Yup. The version of blackra1n that got released today (11/3, so yesterday now) will "Hacktivate" and Jailbreak.

Once it's done you'll have the Blackra1n app on your iPhone. Open that, install either Cydia or Rock (or both), and select Blacksn0w to install the unlock. Or, if you don't really care about Jailbreaking, you can install just Blacksn0w.

Got 2G, updated to 3.1.2 via iTunes.

Neither RC1,2 nor RC3 activated my 2G.
I've used foreign SIM and AT&T original one, but no effect - "Plug to iTunes for activate" on the display.

Any ideas? Is there a trigger for some "forced" hActivation in Blackra1n RC3?

If you are having problems with the Black range i would use Pwnage Tool as the 2G doesn't carry all the safeguards of the later models making it very easy.

It's a solution only if i had synced my contacts BEFORE updating to 3.1.2.
For now Restore is not an option.

I hoped RC3 will do hActivation on my 2G.. but.. nothing happens :/
and w/o afc2 i can't grab contacts from /var/library/...

Can any report successfull activation of 2G via RC3?
