With my MBP, when I boot up, i allways have to select my wireless signal from the drop down list of available wireless connections. How do I configure it to just automatically connect to my own wireless without having to select it everytime? Thanks

You could try:-

System Prefs > Network > Airport > By Default Join: Select Preferred Networks and then add you network as a preferred network.

If you're running a secure network, with SSID broadcast switched off, you may find, as I do, that you still have to enter the network name and password to connect each time.
