I am having some problems with my Power Mac G5. I need to boot it from another drive. How do I do that...do I hold down the "alt" key as I turn it on?

Help...thanks

If you have a system disc (cd), put it in your cd drive and boot while holding down the C key. If that works, then go to system preferences and select startup disk and choose your external (bootable) hard drive, then reboot. (This assumes that you can't boot at all with your Mac.)

Have the drive connected to your mac. Open up System Prefs and go to Startup Disk. Set the external to the startup disk and it will boot from that now.

Restart the computer and and boot up ( system chime) hold the 'option' key until you see the selection of disks

Of course you have to have an OS installed on the other disks
