Hey guys, I need to install macOS Sierra on my 5,1 along with Mojave which I'm using now. I've installed an SSD for Sierra, but I can't boot into recovery mode because I have a Sapphire Radeon RX 560 4 GB and the screen is always black until password input to Mojave.

Same process, CMD-R around the time the Mac Pro sounds the chime. Display will work when the GPU drivers are loaded by the Recovery/macOS Installer.

Sometimes Recovery mode CMD R takes a long time to finally load. It would be worth waiting longer to see if it finally loads.

I'm running Mojave off an SSD on a Velocity Solo x2 so this may be the problem because I hold down CMD-R on the chime all the way until password input.

If there is no Recovery HD installed, then cmd+R will do nothing for you.
To check for a Recovery HD partition, run "diskutil list" in a Terminal window and you should see something like this.
