i see that i can go to Settings > General > Usage

but then there are two "data used" tabs. do i add them together to make the amount of data I've used? or do i just use the sent/received?

Just use the sent/received. Add them together and that's how much data you've used in total, since you've last reset the timer.

You can also use the AT&T app to check your balance and see how much data that they estimate you're using. In the end, their tally is going to be what shows up on your bill anyway.

I'm on a rogers plan :S and they really don't have anything like that. (that I'm aware of)
