How do I check my firmware version?

I'm about to upgrade my cMP from High Sierra to Mojave. However, before I do, I want check/verify my Mac firmware version so I can compare it after the Mojave installation.

But when I got to System Report, I don't see it. I do see Boot ROM version, which is MP51.0089.B00.

Can anyone tell me where I can find my firmware version?

Boot ROM is your firmware version. You won't be able to install Mojave without the firmware updater built into the installer, so you can be certain the firmware will update or you won't be able to install Mojave.

That's what I suspected, but I wasn't sure. To confirm, during the process of installing Mojave, I will receive the firmware updated automatically, correct?

You will have to install the firmware update via the Mojave installer before it lets you install Mojave. Just launch the installer and follow the instructions it gives you.

Thanks for the replies.

I was able to upgrade to Mojave after changing to an RX480 video card, but the firmware is now 138.0.0.0, not 142.0.0.0. Do I need to upgrade my firmware even further to get additional benefits?

Yep.

138.0.0.0.0 is the firmware for 10.14.0. 10.14.1 and 10.14.2 have 140.0.0.0.0.

Thanks for the reply. I did read that thread, but I guess I'm not clear on when/how the firmware gets updated. The Mac Pro is running 10.14.2 yet the firmware is still 138.0.0.0.

History:
I upgraded from High Sierra and got Mojave (10.14.0) and firmware 138.0.0.0. Then via macOS updates, I updated until 10.14.2, however this did not upgrade the firmware.

Do I need to manually upgrade my firmware somehow and if I do, what benefit would I see?

Sorry, not trying to be daft. I read the first post again, then the full thread again. I upgraded my firmware with the Mojave installer as per the instructions, but rather than upgrading to 140.0.0.0 it upgraded to 138.0.0.0:

Sorry, but you didn’t noticed that I linked one thread into the first post (MP5,1 Mojave thread) and another thread (MP5,1 BootROM thread) into the second one?

FYI, in case this was not just a typo - there is no 142.0.0.0.0 firmware for Mac Pro at this time.
The latest firmware is 140.0.0.0.0, which is the update from 138.0.0.0.0.
