Hi there, I just did a restore in iTunes (from backup) on my previously jailbroken iPhone.

All the apps that were in categories before are not present on the desktop on the phone, but iTunes reports them as on the phone...

how do I clean up all the jailbreak leftovers?

thank you

Try

Have you tired going to the app store on the phone and downloading the apps again? Depending on how many you have that may work? Then re-sync with iTunes after.

Hi there and thank you for your quick answer.

My problem is however not having the apps, as they are present in iTunes, and according to iTunes present on my phone.

There are however some leftovers from the jailbreak app categories, and all apps that were in categories are not appearing on the phone.

Any further advice?

Restrictions is not the problem - again:

All the apps that were sorted into categories under jailbreak, are NOT appearing on the phone. I restored the phone, and I still see a lot of jailbreak leftovers, like my name instead of carriername etc. (I guess that is why the category sort is still in effect).

Any help?

While it may not be what caused the icons to be hidden, it will un-hide them again.

Go into settings, enable restrictions, close settings, re-open and disable restrictions. This un-hides any icons that you hid with Categories or Poof or whatnot.

The carrier name cannot be changed without a jailbreak program.

The reason that all of them remained after the jailbreak is that things like that are stored in the settings, and thus are carried over when you restore the phone from a backup.

To get rid of all traces of jailbreak, set up as new phone instead of restoring from backup.

It worked, thank you.

I do apologize for the post as this had already been answered. I did however perform a search before I posted, I just diddnt think the other user experienced the same problem as me.

As always, thanks MR

maybe you should pay attention before you do stuff.. it clearly states in categories that you need to take all apps out before you restore or delete app.. it says categories will cause problems if you dont use it right. READ
