Hey guys, quick question: My Messages app in my Dock is showing I have unread messages but when I open it, there are no unread messages in sight. I right click on the Messages app in the dock and it doesn't show any there either. How do I clear this so I don't keep seeing a red bubble in the app icon with unread messages that don't exist? Is there a cache to dump in the trash somewhere? Thanks in advance!

Yeah, try deleting the contents of User/Library/Messages. If you have any backed up messages or attachments that you want to keep, you might want to make a copy of the folder and its contents before nuking it.

See if that helps.

Are you sure messages isn't throwing texts from unknown senders into a separate folder that you need to click on to see? If you have a blocker on your phone this can happen.

Sometimes, logging out and back in fixes that.
