Call me old school, but I miss the day when syncing with a computer meant a physical computer. Ever since my iPhone started allowing me to sync with google or yahoo I've been finding redundant information and sorting it all out has been a hassle.

Now with 10.8 I see it further integrated. My calendar has iCloud events and "On My Mac" event accounts. Can't there just be one? How do I merge everything to make my life the way these people are attempting to do and yet really only complicating it?

Yes you can. Select the On my Mac account then go to File/export/export... and save the file to desktop. No go to File/import/import... and select the file from your desktop. You will be asked where you want to import that file.. just tell it to import to the iCloud event calendar. Do this with each On my Mac calendar to get them all into the iCloud calendar. Then delete all the On my Mac calendars.
