how do i connect mac mini to a mointor

hey guys im juz wonderin how do i hook up my mac mini to mointor i have idea aswell because mac mini has hdmi port i tought i could use my hdmi to dvi cabel do u think that will work or i need a another product to hook it thanxs guy im new here juz take it easy on me
