Apologies as this question sounds almost ridiculous but I can't find the answer, neither from ChatGPT nor from the sticky post at the top talking about iCloud Sharing.

I switched from Dropbox to iCloud because I didn't need 2TB anymore. On Dropbox for Mac I would very often "Copy Link" and paste it into a message, email, web form, spreadsheet etc so that I can direct someone to a file without having to send the actual entire file itself via the email, iMessage, etc.

How do I do this exact procedure on iCloud? I don't want to "Add Email Addresses", I need a link to the file.

Thank you in advance.

You can share files from your Apple devices with other Apple users to collaborate.

But it sounds like you want to make the entire file available to people, not collaborate. Without emailing, you can send a link to the file, but only from the iCloud Drive web interface. Search this linked document for "copy link".

Perfect! Thank you so much! They really buried it in there. It was nice to have it on the right click menu in the Finder but this works fine. I appreciate the response.
