How do i disarm ialertu?

i have put in my password and it wont disarm. I don't have a remote. If i go and buy a remote, will that do the job. please help.

i guess so
iAlertU is activated and deactivated using the infrared remote control included with every MacBook computer.

I figured it out. I manually turned off the computer and then pulled the power cord from the power outlet. That did the trick. thank you for all the answered.
