How do I do these 5 things in CS2

2. A ''Paint splatter'' effect. Like paint balls, and dribbling?
3. A 'shiny' effect on items and fonts, makes it look 3D, and 'reflective'?
4. Add a 3D drop/shadow, like the WordArt in Microsoft Word?
5. Create reflective text, like on some Apple text, where the font is reflected below, as if its in water?

I was enquiring on how to do 5 different things in Photoshop, the first of which was the attached image. How I can achieve that effect.

Shadow

To add a drop shadow all you have to do is select the layer you want to apply it onto and add a layer style called drop shadow [Layer>Layer Styles> Drop Shadow] and playing with th options to get the desired result

I'd still say it was drawing, unless someone now makes a magic filter. Time and effort...and a pencil.

I saw it on a users Devian Art page.

He said it was a photo of his friend.

To me, picture = hand drawn, photo = camera.

that is not a photo which has had filters applied. It is a drawing (maybe drawn on top of a photo for reference...).

to get the "paint" effect you want, there is no filter for that. Its all about using your tools and brushes.

actually, everything you list, can be done thousands of ways (just like everything else in PS). The problem is, you are obviously pretty new to the app, and explaining is gonna more than likely gonna go way over your head. (not trying to be rude, its just very difficult to explain techniqes to someone without a decent knowledge of the program).

Your best bet is get a PS book, such as a Visual Quickstart Guide, or Down and DIrty PS tricks.

The majority of what you want to do is achieved via filters (you will see the menu) and it would be a good idea just to play around to see what they do. The paint effect can be achieved but as previously stated it is a little complicated to reproduce here - honestly, the best way is to play with the filters. Whilst I agree the image looks hand drawn you can, again, use filters on scanned images and digital photos to make them look less realistic, can't remember what menu but you can 'replace' colours in an image of make them bicoloured (you can choose the colours from a picker) in the image you posted its obviously mauve (or purple) and white. I absolutely hate reading manuals but luckily am happy just to play around until I discover a good effect - remembering it is something different. If you are into reading then get a book - I don't know if they do a "PS for Dummies" manual - they are apparently good, short and easy to read. If you are Word savvy (sounds like it) then you will find PS quite a bit more difficult - especially when it comes to layers. Good luck!

a google search with your list plus the words 'photoshop tutorial' should give you answers

for the blood, i recommend using brushes- do a search for 'photoshop blood brushes' or blood splatter brushes' and you should get results
