How do I do this?

Hi,

Im pretty new to web design. I learnt basic html when I was 14 and haven't really used it since. I've recently read through HTML and CSS tutorials to improve my web design skills for a student graphic design portfolio I'm working on. I've just got a few questions. I'm sorry if this can be done with CSS, I just haven't been able to find any info. The website screenshot below is still a work in progress, so just ignore the copied paragraph text and grammar issues.

How can I show a sub-menu of links under the portfolio tab when clicked, without the need to reload the page?

A similar problem of: How can I show information from the different webpages without loading the navigational menu each time?

I've researched the various colour attributes one can apply to links for visted pages and active etc... Is there anyway I can apply a hover command so that the small semi-circle pointer in the screenshot will appear with each link in the side-menu? It doesn't need to slide down the vertical rule in a flashy way, just perhaps appear with each link.

Any help would be appreciated. Cheers

the picture won't open, but if i understand what you're saying I think you're looking for something like this. It's not on click like you said, but on hover. It's a css technique that works in most browsers and a behavior file to make it work in all other browsers.
