Ok, so I just got the new imac, and I'm stupid with it. I've had PC's my whole life, and I can't figure out how to load the driver to operate my lide 30 canon scanner. I'm frustrated, as I've tried everything. Can somebody help? I need to be walked through this process I guess. Thanks in advance!

Is it not just included with the iMac? Otherwise just go to the manufacturer's website and download the installer and any other software you may need. Although you can use Image Capture to bring stuff in from your Scanner.

Have you just tried plugging it into your Mac. It should just work with image capture.

I did just plug it in, and it didn't do ANYTHING! Then, when I downloaded the driver it didn't do anything but put it in the download list. When I click on it, it comes up text and asks me where to install. I don't know anything about all that! I don't even know what image capture is. This is all foreign to me....

Just went through this with my Lide20.

Open Finder, and drag the downloaded image on your desktop to Applications.

That should install Toolbox 4.3 for OSX.

I'm sorry if this is not accurate, but I was struggling also when I did it.

I tried that, and it's not working. It keeps asking me where to install it. Then when it does install, it's a document. It's soo frustrating! I swear, I've downloaded this a million times too.

Are there any instructions or forums on the manufacturer's web site? I endured endless frustration at logitech's osx features until i discovered a better 3rd party program.

And as for a scanner, i use windows on parallels so i can use paperport software for scanning. I'm also miffed that paperport doesn't work on mac anymore, either.

I just sold my Lide 30 for exactly this reason. I did a ton of reading and the long and short of it is that canon doesn't care. They haven't made a driver for leo/CS3. I did manage to get it working on my computer at work, but I honestly tried so many different things that i don't know which ended up working. I couldn't replicate it on my personal computer (same as my work comp). I ended up just selling the scanner with plans to buy a new one.

I recently switched from a long time PC user to a Mac. I had an ancient Colorado 2400U scanner since 2001 on the PC...no Mac drivers whatsoever. Did a bunch of reading and settled on a Canon LIDE 25....got it from Amazon for $34.95. It works great...not sure what the difference in the LIDE 30 to make it such a pain.
