Mac's don't have a BIOS to flash. The 1,1 and 2,1 are actual model identifiers, physical devices. If you want a 2,1 you have to buy it.

Actually while you are right about macs not having a BIOS, there is an EFI flash that updates the 1,1 to 2,1. It hey have the same hardware, but by flashing a 1,1 to 2,1, you get to use 4gb of Ram instead of 2.

OP, do a search. I even created a tutorial around it a couple years back....

No kidding, I was not aware that could be done.
