I have two iPads: M4 and 4th generation. They are now BOTH stuck in 'letterbox mode' (ie black bars top and bottom). The 4th generation was fine...then suddenly it wasn't - I did something to the M4 the other day to make it change - and I don't know what I did - now I've done the same thing to the 4th gen.

Can someone tell me what I did, please...? It literally just switched, I've altered nothing in the camera settings. The M4 is running 17.5.1 and the 4th gen, the 18 beta.

See what I mean...? How do I get them back full screen...? There seems to be no obvious way to change the aspect ratio (but, obviously, it's happened). Tapping the little settings thingy (I know all the technical terms...😜) at the top (HD/30fps box thing) does nothing (bar switch between HD and 4K and 30 and 60fps). I need to revert the aspect ratio.

Help a f**kwit out...

Double tap the screen in video mode to change between 16:9 and 4:3

It's easy to do because in photo mode double tapping chooses a focus point but in video mode it screws up your aspect ratio

It’s not actually changing the recorded aspect ratio, just the way it’s displayed on screen. If you’re “zoomed in” to full-screen, you’re recording a bit more to the left & right than you can see.

It may not matter to you, but just keep in mind if you’re zoomed in, you may be catching something along the edges that will look odd in playback (edge of a background, etc)
