So far, the only way to empty the Trash is by deleting each and every email there. Isn't there an automatic way to do it ?? Like 'empty deleted messages on exit' ?

This is the Mail program in Jaguar.

Sure...

Go to the following menu path.

Mail --> Preferences (a dialog box will appear)

Click on the Accounts toolbar item and then select the account you want to edit and press the edit button.

Under special (one of the tabs) you can tell Mail how to handle junkmail and trash items. Things like leave on server (for imap) and how often to delete the items in junk and trash (from x number of days) to 'on quit' )...

Hope this helps...

Control-click the Trash mailbox icon and choose Erase Deleted Messages from the contextual menu.

or

Wait, and Mail will permanently delete the messges automatically after about a week.

If a week is too long, set your preferences to a shorter period. Choose Mail-Preferences, double click the account name, click Special Mailboxes, set the "Erase deleted messages when" pop-up menu to your preferred interval. You can choose Never, One Day Old, One Week Old, One Month Old, and Quitting Mail (which makes your trashed messages go away every time you quit mail).

Good luck.

(I mean, yeah, what he said. We were typing at the same time. He's just faster. ;-) )
