Hello, on my iPhone iOS17, I use Apple Calendar app. In the settings, I also have Outlook Exchange slider turned on for Calendar, but I do not use Outlook app.
In Apple Notes, I wanted to remove Outlook folder category, so in Settings, I went to Notes > Accounts > delete Outlook account in Apple Notes.
Now my Calendar has most appointments missing. How do I get them back?
On my PC, I went to the same Microsoft Work account in Outlook 365 desktop app, logged into same outlook/MS account I used in my Apple Calendar, and it shows nothing. For thoroughness, I checked my other personal MS account with the same name, I checked the calendar, and it had nothing.
If the calendar appointments are not stored in the cloud, does that mean they were only stored in my iPhone? That seems unlikely.
Tomorrow I will be restoring my iPhone from backup created 1 day prior to this incident, to see if the calendar data was only stored in the device.
What caused this issue? It doesn't make sense to me. It seems unlikely that calendar data would be only stored on the phone, everything is on the cloud today, it seems likely it would be stored in the cloud, but then why is it not there?
I have dozens of clients' data stored in my calendar data, and it will destoy relationships with clients if I cannot recover this data, please help!

The question you need to be asking yourself is how is it that calendar data used on your iphone which is now gone also happens to have gone on a desktop computer. It must mean the outlook info/data on your iphone was also directly linked to the outlook info/data on your desktop computer.

In your post you made reference to a Microsoft work account. This means you have to have a Microsoft login to be able to access Outlook 365. You would have also had to have been logged into a Microsoft account on your iphone which means anything you do that is related to Outlook is saved via Microsoft's servers which would explain why when using your desktop computer and logging into your Outlook account, the information was also gone because the account on your iphone and desktop are linked together via Microsofts login.

Do you see anything on iCloud.com?
No, it only shows holidays, and birthdays, but no events I had manually created in my iphone.
When I am using Apple Calendar app, and in Settings > Calendar > Accounts > Exchange, if I use exchange account calendar, does that save data ONLY in my iphone? When I click Delete Account it says to delete data "from my iPhone". I thought this data was stored in the cloud, but is it actually in my iPhone only? Thank you.

Anything local would be under “On my iPhone”

If you used to be able to access your data on other devices then it would’ve been on the cloud
