I have photos on my iPhone that I placed there from a now crashed hard drive.

Is there any way to retrieve photos on an iPhone that were not taken with the iPhone?

Assuming you have a Mac, launch iPhoto and import them from the iPhone.

iPhoto only recognizes photos taken with the iPhone. These photos were put on the iPhone from a PC that is now crashed.

Send them to yourself in an e-mail. That is about the only way to do it, since Apple doesn't give you Filesystem access.

TEG
250+ emails.
That can't be the only way. Then again maybe it is because I've googled the hell out of this and can't find an answer.

import them into iphoto, create albums to put them in, make sure photo syncing is on in itunes, then sync the ipod, all of the pictures get moved to the phone into the albums you created

Is your iPhone jailbroken? If so, you're in luck.

If not, you're screwed. The photos are scaled down to 800x600 on the iPhone anyway, it's not like you'd have all the originals.

Try Camera and scanner wizard.

I plugged my iPhone into my WinPC and use the Camera and Scanner Wizard to retrieve my phones. Have you tried that?
