Even though I don’t have any rough fingers and I try to remove oil from my fingers by washing my hands I looked today and saw that my keyboard keys were shiny and even cleaning them did not remove the shine is there a proven method to remove the shine from the keyboard keys without damaging the keys

I think that happens due to friction from your fingers hitting the keys. The original matte finish is the textured surface of the plastic key that is worn smooth by repeated finger presses and with the texture worn off the result is a smoother and shinier surface. You are polishing the surface of the keys as you use them. I doubt that cleaning would help. It might remove more of the text on the surface and make the rest of the key more shiny.

As far as I know there is nothing that can slow or stop it. Until Apple decides to change the surface material of the keys it’s going to continue happening. I type thousands of works per day and after 3 months most of my keys are shiny.
