hi,
i have installed service pack 3 on bootcamp on new macbook.
i cant get any sound with all my audio applications, even windows media player. i can see the levels and audio files playing within the software (soundforge, wavelab, cubase etc) but cant get any sound to come out the macbook internal speakers........

ive tried all the available audio driver settings from within the apps.
ive checked the sound controls menu from my system tray...all the volume faders are full, unmuted.

theres a realteck or something like that, control panel......i think realtek is the internal sound funtion of my windows xp......

anyone help?

(ive updated bootamp to 2.1 with software updater..... ive intalled the bootcamp drivers from my leopard install dvd....)
shall i put the leopard dvd in again? in case the bootcamp drivers never got installed????

i just used the first leopard dvd.........should we also use the 2nd leopard dvd????? bootcamp manual just says put leopard dvd in and install bootcamp drivers.........but it dont say which leopard dvd.........

cheers

i understand latency is gonna be an issue with internal sound drivers.....any recommend third party sound drivers for use with internal macbook?

Can you describe what you did? I'm having the same problem that you described, and I have tried the things you listed as well as a number of other things to no avail.

sorry i have no idea......

it was weird..... i dont recall doing anything directly......

but sound works fine on my bootcamp windows now.

i didnt have to enable or disable anything.

i think i played with the system sound settings in windows....but those were just for the beep sounds etc.....try that.....go to control panel or whatever....and sound settings...... ive chosen no sounds.... but that dont or shouldnt affect the general audio......

look in device manager..... for and ! marks.

if youre using music apps.....get this driver....asio4all.....its free..... latency is nice and audio quality is nice......

i only used leopard dvd 1.....for the drivers.......
then update to 2.1 using software updater over internet........

right click sound settings.....and make sure they are all unmuted.....put the volume to around middle......

it had nothing to do with the mac side....to my recollection........

hope you get it fixed......

just try a simple app first....like windows media player or itunes......try and get sound to that......

it might just be a bug.....where you have to play around with sound settings in xp ....for them to jump into play.......dunno......

hope it works.....have patience.....took me whole night and then some.......

thats windows xp for ya man........

windows xp sucks ....major......i hate it....... ive had one crash since ive had macbook for one month......and guess what ......it was while i was on xp......

my dream is to eventually get rid of xp and use osx exclusively......

cheers.

Thanks for the advice. So you didn't install any drivers that you downloaded off that net? That's mainly what I've been trying. If only Netflix let you watch movies on the mac I wouldn't be going through this.
