Help, I logged in to Messages to take a look and now I would like to log out. It seems I can only quit, log in is greyed out. I see a setting in Messages, Preference, Account to Sign Out. Is this the correct way to do it? Thanks.

Yes, that is how to log out. I did the same thing. It seems Apple wants to keep you logged in.

I don't understand why this is intended to remain logged in. Convenience for the User? Now if I want to log back in I have to go to Preferences again to Sign in. Seems rather awkward to me.

I don't understand either. Apple does a lot of things I don't understand. We just pray for the fixes in the next .1 release :)

I think I remember looking at this before updating to 10.8.2 and I don't recall this being like this. Im sure I signed in when I set it up but maybe just did not realized this was happening. Damn... and there were 3 email address checked before, done by default, now only one is. But thats not the point. It can cause unnecessary problems for us which we cant fix, at least not easily and I have not read one word about this in any of the reviews I have read.

During the betas there were issues with messages. I think how you log out was the least of the reviewers issues. It's a hassle but I think Apple wants you to stay logged in. Maybe you and I are missing an obvious way to log out. I'm not seeing it and won't use messages because it does not interest me. Maybe in the next release I might. I have no need to continue conversations started on my computer from my phone or vise versa.
