You can't put more RAM as it's maxed out. There isn't much point upgrading the CPU. You can put an SSD which will make it a little snappier. Putting an older OS like High Sierra might help.

That being said it is fairly safe to say there is only so much you can expect from a 14-year old computer. If you can get your hands on a 2011 iMac, there have been a lot done (RAM, CPU, graphics card) that make these computers able to respond to most needs. These models have defective graphics cards. So you can get one for a song and a dance. Then go to a thread here on how to replace the graphics card.

Cheers!

It seems that the cheapest way to make your iMac faster is to go to eBay and find a newer model, according to what your wallet says. Anywhere from £100 to £2000 or above, depending on age etc. Check out how much hard drive space you need (because SSD drives are a lot faster and either a lot smaller or a lot more expensive) to see if you can buy SSD drive or HD, check the RAM, and the age.

For a 14-year-old iMac, about the only way to "make it faster" at this point, is...

... get something newer.
