Hello, I can't make the text any bigger for a lot of things, like the widgets on the side bar doesn't scale at all. The top of the screen where it displays time, etc. I use the text tool and made it bigger but that only works for text messages, the UI stuff is still so tiny. I have 20/15 vision but its super disappointing theres no "zoom" option. yes I did make Home Screen icons bigger, but the text underneath them are ....mini. Anyone know? Thanks!

It’s in the accessibility menu, under “Display & Text Size”

The UI was set up based on the original 9.7" iPad, with no intention of ever providing a different size. Jobs was adamantly opposed to an iPad Mini (or so the urban legend goes). So although (only) some of the text can be scaled, most if the UI is simply a shrunken version of the 9.7" iPad UI. This is a disadvantage (or maybe an advantage for some) of the iPad Mini.
btw, I have both. Just one of the pros/cons.

I think we can probably move the blame over to current Apple at this point.
Steve's been dead a decade and wasn't even alive for the launch of the first Mini.

Far far far past time for Apple to be offering some affordances in the UI for the needs of the Mini

In safari settings you can set text size settings across all sites or do it manually for each site.

In accessibility you call also alter display and text size. Or if you scroll down in accessibility to bottom you can change per app setting which includes larger text.

in the Home Screen setting you can choose to have larger icons also.

What a kludgy way to do it all

Apple needs to re-think this aspect of things from the ground up

Also - still - none of that helps with widgets also

Agree. The widgets make no sense on the Mini because widgets on my 13 Pro are way more legible than those on the Mini - can’t they just use some of the UI from the iPhone? The Mail widget, for example.

The widgets are the large indictment on their Dev work here
Never should things be larger and more legible on a physically smaller iPhone

I’ve noticed this a lot. I have the iPhone 13 pro and across the board, I’ve found that the text size on the phone is bigger than the new iPad mini. I’ve adjusted every setting to increase fonts and it generally doesn’t help (I understand that in some places and in some apps fonts can be customized).

It’s a little frustrating… all fonts on the iPad should at least be the same size as the phone.
