Hi All,

Ordered the M1 Macbook air, looking forward to it! 🙂

2 questions:

(Q1) What‘s the eaiest way to set it up with my existing Monitor?:
1. To make use of the Monitor’s USB-Hub function (really useful!)
2. For best Display? (Not sure HDMI is the best cable)

(Q2) Should I buy a USB-C Hub, with a single USB-Cable running to the laptop, and all the monitor cables running off that?
- That way, I can swap the single USB-C cable between my work laptop and my new Macbook 😇
- Can you advise of hubs I can look at to buy please 👍

Details of Current set up:
(1) I have a monitor that I use with my windows Work laptop. I’ve got it set up with the Monitor, so the laptop can make use of the USB ports on the monitor - for the Keyboard and Mouse connections etc.

(2) The cables I’m using at the moment is:
1. USB-A (laptop) to USB-Hub (Monitor)
2. HDMI (laptop) to HDMI (Monitor)

(3)The Monitor is a AOC. the specs are below.

Hope you can advise

Regards

Hi Martin,

I think the simplest solution is use a USB hub that allows passthrough power. This means that you can connect your Mac USB Charger to the Hub and it will pass power through to the MacBook. The Hub will then be able to connect your monitor, keyboard and mouse.

The advantage is you only need to plug one cable into your Mac to connect power and connect all your peripherals.

I suggest you look at the Belkin USB-C Multimedia Hub
