Yo fellas, I've just unlocked and jail broken my 16GB 3G using Blackra1n's most excellent and simple program. I'm selling the device because I have a 32GB 3Gs and can use the cash. I did an "erase all data" from the device (which now I will have to run Blackra1n.exe again) but it wants me to connect it to iTunes. If I do this iTunes will try to pair the device with it's library and name the device and when the buyer takes receipt of the device and try's to sync it with his/her library it's going to tell them that the device is sync'd with another iTunes library? So how do I "prep" the device to sell to someone? Much thanks in advance to any and all assistance.

Restore the phone back to official Apple IPSW and choose set up as new.

Hold down home button, plug in USB cord, keep holding the home button until you see the iTunes/USB cord logo on screen. Start up iTunes.

You probably won't need to do this because iTunes will put the correct firmware on phone, but... (just let it do it automatically)

Apple IPSW's are available here.

iPhone-Power,

Once I did an "erase all data" the device is displaying the usb cable graphic and wants me to connect the device to iTunes but I do not want iTunes to make an association with this device. If it does and I sell it, iTunes will prompt the new user that the device is sync'd to another iTunes library and I don't want them to have to wipe the device and lose the unlock/jailbreak. I'm a pretty smart guy but I also know that many of you guys are far sharper than me.....so please tell me what I'm missing here. Thanks for your patience man, I just want to make sure that the buyer doesn't have any problems (I would want a seller to extend the same courtesy to me).

If you did erase all data, you removed the firmware (the OS) the phone needs to run. Just like formatting a hard drive. You already lost the JB/UL.

If you want the phone to work again, do what I told you.

If you promised the buyer a JB/UL phone, after you restore it, you will have to re-JB/UL it.

iPhone-power,

I will follow what you have recommended and re-UL/JB the device. Once the buyer get's the device what must he or she do once they connect the iPhone to their iTunes library? (that is if they have iTunes already, if not they will be running iTunes for the first time with this device).

Install iTunes and then plug in the phone.
