How do I raise phone - and go straight to home page - on Face_ID iPhones?

Hi All,


Another Question.

Can I get my 13 mini to unlock and go straight to home page - with all my apps etc?

When I raise the phone - it says its unlocked - but is just on the 'time' blank page, I need to swipe up manually to go to home page, or at the last app using and still open. (E.g. camera.)

The demo phones in the Apple Store did exactly that though. Also the Rep that was with me, his phone did that as well. This Was even with him wearing a mask

There must be a way to do this, it would really make life a lot easier

It's done that way so you can see your notifications, I guess.

I've set the "back tap" option (under Accessibility) so that a double-tap goes to the homescreen. It's not much better than swiping up but depending on how I'm holding the phone it can be easier.

Perhaps if there’s no passcode set and no Face ID authentication set, the phone will launch on to the Home Screen immediately

You probably didn't see him swipe up. It's such a simple thing to do.

Why would you want that? Wouldn't that be super annoying if you just want to check the time, notifications, etc.?

I don't think it's possible. The store phones are able to do that because it on display/store mode I'm pretty sure.

The idea was so that you can see your notifications.

If the screen immediately goes to the home screen, it becomes a hassle if you just want to check your notifications.

If he has an Apple Watch, it will allow the phone to be unlocked automatically while he's wearing one.
Also, if he has 15.4, FaceID supports unlocking while wearing a mask.
You might miss the swipe up gesture as the unlocking process was seamless/transparent.

As already mentioned, you probably just didn’t see them swipe up. I’ve seen some people swiping up to the middle or even higher on their phones, which is totally unnecessary. In case you’re doing something similar, you don’t need to swipe up that much. I quickly swipe up a distance of maybe 1-2 cm to get to my home screen.

You can/t do it that way I think! it is for everyone!! We are facing this also! And I don't think it's that big hassle to swipe up! It's for applying passwords or security things on our iPhones!

The funny thing was that when TouchID was first introduced, people were actually complaining how it blew past the Lock Screen too quickly and they couldn’t see their notifications. I believe Apple even mentioned it in their keynotes, so their introduced raise to wake.

My guess is from Apple's perspective, it's the same, two steps, with the unlocking part happens later or sooner.
TouchID: raise to wake (you see your notifications), and then you press home to unlock and go to home screen.
FaceID: raise to wake and unlocks (you can still see your notifications), and then swipe up to go home.

I was one of them that was complaining. ?

Makes sense this way, I’ve replied to plenty of messages straight from the lock screen by using Haptic Touch.

Adding a option for people who want to go straight to the home screen wouldn’t hurt either, take  a few minutes to bake it into the software. ?

This is apple we’re talking about, we’ll get it in 5 years time lol.

Tenuous link. I get way more people pocket-calling me since the advent of Face ID. Folk glance at their phone, unwittingly unlock it, then put it back in their pocket without re-locking. Presumably swiping up in the process and then wreaking havoc. Does my head in.

Or at least change it back to a swiping action instead of a button. I see too many people accidentally turning on their flashlight/camera on their FaceID enabled iPhones, sometimes without them realising it. Never have that problem on my 7+ because it requires a swipe to access the camera. There's a reason for "swipe to unlock." The swiping action is less prone to accidental triggers vs a button press.

The camera being accessible from the lock screen has always been a major point of contention for me. I don’t want to accidentally open the camera app when my phone is locked. And more importantly I don’t want other people doing it either. The fact that Apple have never seen fit to toggle this as an option is almost beyond words.
