Could Installer be the problem? It's about the only thing i can think of, seeing as how 99% of people who choose to jailbreak choose to have it installed alongside

Can you tell me how to remover Installer???

try that, i don't know since i don't have it.

Please remember i was only saying that Installer COULD cause slowdown, i did not actually state that as fact. I only came to that conclusion because people who claim they are experiencing lag/worst battery life after jailbreaking usually have Installer installed, but i don't, and i have not had a single problem with my jailbroken 2.1 phone.

EHHH OK that did not work as when you are in Installer you cannot remove Installer.. Hmmmmm
Do you know another way to remove this application, i have noticed its programs lag and sicnce i have cydia there is no need for it

wow nice reply lol well you can ssh install ssh on your iphone through cydia and ssh into your phone using cyberduck or fugu and try to locate the installer folder and delete it and reboot your phone and there you go.

Can you be more specific for a NEWBIE on how to do this?

go to Cydia>Packages>Network> *install openSSH(note its NOT an icon on your springboard)* download WinSCP for your Windows (i have no idea on OS-X). then put your IP address of iPhone into the Host name, Root as login, Alpine as password. set the protocol to SCP and hit login..then from there press backspace as much as possible, then open up the -r folder, open up Applications folder, delete the Installer.app file, restart your phone.

that's what the rm -r /Applications/Installer.app means..

I think....

Just install MobileTerminal and do this:

su

Type your password, it will not show asterisks when you type it.

Then:

rm -r /Applications/Installer.app

Then restart your phone or use a program that will restart the Springboard.

Just use quickpwn and then don't check installer and it wont reinstall it.

I got rid of installer by using QuickPwn for Mac.

Am I the only one who was bothered by Installer's icon that is pushed downward? You would think that they would pay attention to this when they made the app.

how do you know this is the slow down problem, dont make accusations unless you have proof, and esp dont put it in the title, false advertising

I know because i did my test, and what are you the advertising police??

OK THANK YOU!! that Worked PERFECT!!!

I was getting the slowdown (specifically apps like SMS or iPod taking up to 10 seconds to boot) and I've never had installer on my iPhone.

i uninstalled Installer as well and boot times for settings and apps can be a bit slow.

what else can be slowing down my phone?

Removing Stuff

I have found "Fionder" a great little App for removing and moving stuff around in iPhone.
I had a couple of files that were giving me grief. Leftovers and residual stuff from 1Password amd iRealSMS and I couldn't get rid of them.
With "Finder" it was easy to locate them and delete them. Didn't have to SSH or connect to my Mac just did them one day on the way home on the train.
Great little App. Available through Cydia.

I tried Alpine but it's said, 'Access Denied'. Are you sure that's the right password?

BTW, I also noticed that after I updated Cydia that the iPhone is slowing down, which is annoying!! Does this also delete all the updates? I'm trying to delete only Cydia's updates cause I didn't think the iPhone is slower right until I updated Cydia. If I can't delete just Cydia's update, how can I make sure that I delete all Cydia's files, then I can install Cydia again, without applying the update. I tried restoring, then re-jailbreaking it again, but somehow I'm sure the update is still in the iPhone.
