Please excuse me if this is a simple question but I am new to the world of Mac's, I have just bought a 2012 iMac and have come from being a longtime user of windows PC's.

I have been using my new iMac for a few days now, on the first day I set time machine to backup to my NAS drive, the NAS drive is a 3tb mybook live. It has a time machine backup folder already on it so I backed up to that with no problems.

For some unknown reason i had an error today while time machine tried to backup, is there an easy/proper way to remove the time machine backup file from my NAS drive so I can start a new backup from scratch? I can see no option anywhere in the time machine application to remove/reset backup.

Thanks.

Hi,
its easy. You just have to delete the Time Machine Backup on your MyBook Live.
Go to the webinterface of the mybook live. There should be a menu called Backup (or something like that). There you can see your Time Machine backup. There is also an option to delete this backup!

After that go to your time machine options an select the nas again, as your backup drive.
Thats all.

Thanks for this info, I thought it would probably be simple but just wanted to make sure. Don't really want to mess anything up.
